Painter: Sculptor

Michael D. Smith CNZM has been a Coromandel Peninsula resident for many years in his studio most days. He has made a wide and varied body of work during his life, and he has lived a long time in his life. Michael is firmly cemented as one of New Zealand's leading exponents of realist style. More recently his love of music has seen his focus shift to the inter-relationship between art and music and the correlation between color and art. The development of his own harmonic chart formed the basis of a series of abstract paintings and sculptures. Michael has held many one-man shows in New Zealand and his paintings are held in many other collections including Auckland Art Gallery and Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand. His work is also included in significant private collections throughout New Zealand and overseas.

Michael is the Patron Artist of Mercury Bay Art Escape. http://www.mercurybay-artescape.com/michael-d-smither

His works may also be seen at The Little Gallery Tairua www.thelittlegallery.co.nz and at Miranda Farm Gallery www.mirandafarm.co.nz
