Peter Plumb is a Master Carver of Pounamu, the Maori name for New Zealand Nephrite Jade, or Greenstone.

Peter's genealogy, or whakapapa, is New Zealand Maori—Ngai Tahu—and English whaling ancestry. He traces his lineage to Kati Mamoe, Waitaha, the original keepers of "Te Waipounamu", the South Island of New Zealand.
