Business Details

Max is a self taught photographer based in Pauanui. She is currently commuting between Pauanui & Takapuna to complete the equivalent of Year 12 at The Academy for Gifted Education in Takapuna.

Although Max has faced many challenges already in her 17 years of life, creativity and art have provided her with consistent opportunities to succeed and develop confidence in herself.

"Art is my greatest strength as well as my main source of enjoyment. I know that achieving my purpose in life is closely related to further developing my skills, creativity and sharing my message with others".

"In my journey as a photographer I would like to highlight marginalised people and especially those with learning challenges like myself, the LGBTQ+ community and mental health. At the moment I love experimenting with light and how that can change the message within an image. I also love to collaborate with other local artists. Photography for me is a way to share ideas, spark emotion, open conversations and capture the moments in life to remember. I love that I can use this method to express myself while working hard to create something that I can be proud of and, hopefully, spark something in others."

Max recently won an award for her image titled 'Tunes' in the GAW2018 competition. This image is currently on exhibition at The Lakehouse arts centre in Takapuna and will be auctioned on Saturday 27th October. For details see www.lakehousearts.org.nz (Exhibitions: Academy for Gifted education fundraiser)

Max is currently working on a polaroid series of local Coromandel towns. Prints will be available for sale on her website in November.
